Hello my Lovelies,
I had the best Saturday. I slept in (and loved every minute) I went shopping, attended my friend Tess’ “Warrior Princess” themed baby shower and now as promised a post for the SR Lookbook which I am super excited about sharing and really hope you all will love as much as I do. So here it goes…
I love basic pieces in my closet because you can play around with it creating different looks and no one will even know unless you tell them. All they’ll see is the amazing character pieces you pair it with. A shoe, a jacket, a bag even just a pair of sunnys (sunglasses) or a hat will change the look. In Afrikaans I call them my “Staatmakers” which means go to items or lifesavers when I have no idea what to wear and I am sure I am not the only one with those “I have nothing to wear” days even though my closet is overflowing with clothes. I know this is supposed to be a SR lookbook post but I am also sharing my best style trick too. This is my favourite “I have nothing to wear” style stick and as promised in my last post I chose H&M as my online closet because I am such a H&M Fanatic.
I love how you can do so much with a basic item especially if you choose black or white as a base colour. It’s like doing a painting on a black or white canvas. I personally think the simpler your basics are the better because you can be more creative with your pairings.
I thought it would be nice to do a post on pairing a basic top and bottom in black. I decided on a more formal look first. I chose black as a base colour with a Skinny Regular Jeans and a classy yet simple Chiffon Top.
Then I picked a couple of pieces you can pair it with for a more relaxed casual look. Take your pick from a Bomber Jacket to a Cardigan or a pair of Trainers to a Wedge. I love all these looks.
What I love about the pairings here is that each is a character piece on it’s own. I tried picking my fav but I just couldn’t, can you?
I’d love to hear your thoughts, so please leave a comment below.
